Year 7 Camp Emu Gully-Carter

Carter and all the other Year 7 girls took off for camp on 27 February to Emu Gully.  Emu Gully is located in Toowoomba which is about 1 1/2 hours west of Brisbane.  There mission is:
"To inspire and empower people to live purpose filled lives in unity with others through the development of their character".
The girls participated in several amazing experiences including:
Trudging through mud
Crawling through underground tunnels
Working together as a team to transport items in a boat
Walking over a creek
Driving a dune buggy!!

Carter had some wonderful stories to share!!  To help you find Carter, she is usually in a black t-shirt.   At the picture above, she is to the far left.

Around the house

The girls are having a blast with the pool....always making up new games!  This was Spa Day!

I couldn't attend the spa because I was washing uniforms...
Yes, we line dry everything!!  (AND iron!!)   No dryer, except if it's raining!

I had to purchase this for the house...

Around St Aidan's

I thought I would share some photos of the girls at school.   Kennedy just recently had a “Living History” day full of activities learning about the History of Australia....she even got to play a game of horseshoes.

Go Kennedy....Pops will be proud!!

Taylor's class is very serious.........................NOT!!

Taylor in the art room.                       Taylor....working??

Taylor's "Run, Run, Runny" project about how things melt....with her BFF, Georgia.

Open Day

On Saturday, February 18, St Aidan’s held their Open Day.  This is a day where interested families can come and visit/view the school.  It is compulsory that all girls attend.   At first, the girls were not so thrilled about attending school on Saturday but once they were there, they had a ball “showing off” what they do at school.   Carter was among 10 Yr 7 girls chosen to give the tours to visitors....another big honor for that girl!!   Kennedy & Taylor participated in skits for each of their language classes--Taylor-German and Kennedy-French.

Swim Carnival

The St Aidan’s Junior School Swim Carnival was held February 13 at a nearby facility, Nudgee Junior.  This is the day where EVERYBODY in the Junior School represents their “house” in a swim competition.    The girls are lined up on bleachers on one side of the pool by “house”....and since each house is a different color, it looks like a rainbow.   I don’t believe my pictures really capture how neat it looked.    The girls did great!!!   AND......Nightingale came in 2nd out of 6 houses!!   What a fun day!!

Sadie's Arrival

After 6 months of staying with my sister’s family and 1 month in quarantine in Sydney, Sadie arrived in Brisbane on February 10!!
I drove her up to school to meet the girls!   Everyone was so excited!!

This is at the freight pick up at the Brisbane Airport....

Doesn't it look like Sadie is smiling??!!!

Once we arrived home, she didn't go too far away from me but then found a spot and passed out!

Then, it was time to go pick up the girls!!!

I think Sadie is very happy to be home!

Since it is much hotter here, Sadie got a "little" haircut...

If you look closely, you can see a cookaburra sitting on the ledge that was giving Sadie-gal a fit!!!

Year 7 Leadership Day

Year 7 is considered the most important years at St Aidan’s.   This is the year where the girls are given much more responsibility and have to take on Leadership Roles.   On February 9, the girls gathered for the day in “free dress” and participated in various leadership activities.   Each girl then nominates themself for a position.  She has to write a narrative as to the Selection Panel detailing her attributes and qualities that would make her suited for the leadership position she chose.   Carter, of course, went for the big one....House Captain.   And....she got it!   There are 4 house captains for Nightingale.   She was thrilled!!  This role includes conducting House meetings, organising teams and groups for House activities, House carnivals and working with the Head of Junior School.   Way to go Carter!!  She has her badge presented in early March.

Carter's 12th Birthday

Can you believe it?  Our first little girl turned 12 on February 8!!  Time is flying by.   She had a great day at school, sharing red velvet cupcakes with her friends, and then her sisters & I took her out to dinner.   Unfortunately, Troy was away on business but celebrated via mobile.....which Carter answered her very own mobile phone when it rang!!  Boy, she was so excited!!!              She will always be our little girl!!

I love her expression above.................Talking with Dad!!

Hogs' Breath Cafe with Mom & sisters!!

Happy Birthday Carter!!

Carter also celebrated the following weekend by inviting some of her friends over for a Pool Party....which having a “winter” birthday in the States, Carter was quite excited.   There was also ping pong, pizza, dancing, gymnastics, etc, etc!!   Good times!!

On February 6, 8:00 am, the Year 5s took off to Carramundi Recreation Camp near the Sunshine Coast.  About 40 girls attended the camp for 3 days, 2 nights.  They were kept very busy and came home exhausted!!   Fencing, canoeing, catapulting, you name it!!
